1.Why should I choose NetTapes?

NetTapes aims to bring digital media services to masses by innovating to significantly lower the costs of such services. NetTapes offers the most affordable video services on the market with its groundbreaking "Flat Rate" pricing. Most service providers price their services based on hour of source video. NetTapes offers a simple and affordable per tape pricing starting at $8.95 per tape.

2. How do I place the order and send you the tapes?

You place an order at our website and print the order form. You mail the tapes along with the order form to us. We will send you back the DVDs and weblinks.

3. How do I receive the DVDs?

We return your DVDs and original tapes by mail. We charge a one-way shipping fee of $5 for every 5 tapes. We will email you a tracking number to track the shipment after we ship the DVDs and tapes.

4. What do Deluxe and Premier DVD packages include?

Our standard DVD package includes straight video to DVD conversion and is delivered in paper sleeves. This does not include chapter breaks or custom labeling.

Our Deluxe package comes in DVD clear case. It includes some basic clean up such removal of dead space and includes menu with chapter breaks at fixed time intervals. It also includes custom printed labeling on the top of the DVDs.

Our Premier package includes all the features of Deluxe package but comes in DVD library case with custom photo cover with an image from your video.

Combining of tapes is offered only with Deluxe or Premier DVD packages. The price is based on the number of tapes not DVDs.

5. Do you return the Original Tapes?

Yes. We return the original tapes along with your DVDs.

6. Can I edit the DVDs on my computer?

You can do this by using our optional Data DVD service. The regular DVDs are designed to be viewed on your TV. They can not be edited. Our Data DVD option provides you a Data DVD with your video in MPEG format, in addition to regular DVDs. You can then use the Data DVD to edit your video in your favorite editing program on your computer.

7. What different types of video tapes do you support?

NetTapes supports MiniDV, 8mm, Hi8, Digital8 and VHS/VHS-C tapes.

8. What is SharePak?

SharePak consists of 1) DVD of the entire video 2) A short movie clip of your video hosted on our secure servers for online viewing and sharing.

9. Why did you create SharePak?

SharePak makes sharing of video easy. Unlike photos, sharing video is very cumbersome. That's why video tapes get tossed into shoe boxes. SharePak is designed to solve this pain point and make it affordable for everyone.

10. Do you convert film reels?

No, we do not support conversion of film reels at this time.

11. Do you offer video enhancement services?

No. We do not provide video repair or enhancement services at this time. We do basic clean up such as removing dead space etc. as part of our regular conversion service.

12. Do you support conversion of PAL format?

We support both NTSC and PAL formats. PAL conversion is available for an additional charge of $10 per tape.

13. How long does it take to process my order??

A typical order takes one week to 10 days from the time we receive the tapes until we ship them to you. This may vary depending on the size and the complexity of the order.

We offer rush service for more urgent orders (only for Deluxe and Premier orders) for additional cost.

14. Do you take orders from customers out side US?

We do not take online orders from outside the US at this point of time.

15. What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept payments by credit cards through our secure payment gateway. We support Visa, Master Card,  Discover Card and AMEX at this time.

16. Do you offer these services at any of the retail stores?

We only take orders online at this point of time in the US.

17. Do you allow custom modifications for video editing?

We do not take custom projects from our customers at this time.

18. Do you include chapter breaks in the DVDs?

We include menu with chapter breaks (only for Deluxe and Premier packages) at 15 min intervals for easy access. You can navigate the chapters from menu or by using ‘next’ and ‘prev’ buttons on your remote.

19. Can we order additional DVD copies?

Customer can specify the number of additional DVD copies at the time of the order. We do not keep any of the video content with us after the order is completed. So we do not take plain DVD copying orders after the order is completed.

20. How do I share the web link with friends and family?

You just email the weblink to friends and family with whom you want to share the video content. You manage the distribution of the link.

21. Can I download the SharePak movie clip?

Yes. The album page of your movie clip contains a link to download the movie clip in MPEG format.

22. How long does the web link remain active?

We will keep the link active for a period of 6 months.

23. Can I have the weblink active for extended periods?

We will soon be offering an option to have the weblink active for extended periods for a small additional fee.

24. Can I upload my own video clips?

We will soon be offering a service where you can upload and share your own video clips. This will have a free version with a storage limit and a premium version for large storage needs.

25. Do you offer online video storage service?

At this time, we only host the video clips of our SharePak customers. In the near future, we will be offering an online video storage service to address needs of our customers that would like to upload and manage their online home video content by themselves.

26. How can I order different type of options for the same type of tapes?

You need to place separate orders. We have done this to reduce confusion and mix-ups.

27. Can I make copies of DVDs produced by NetTapes?

You have full rights on how you use the DVDs we produce for you.

28. Can I upload my SharePak movie clip to other online video sites?

You have full rights on how you use the DVDs and movie clips we produce for you.

29. Do you convert VHS-C tapes? What is the price?

We convert VHS-C tapes for $8.95/TAPE.

30. Do you combine multiple tapes on a DVD?

For Deluxe and Premier DVD package orders, we can combine multiple tapes on a DVD (up to 2 hours) on special request. The price is based on the number of tapes not DVDs.

31. What is the conversion price for PAL tapes?

PAL conversion is available for an additional charge of $10 per tape.

32. Can I make modifications to my order after placing the order?r?

No. You can not make any modifications to the order after placing the order. If you haven’t yet mailed the tapes, you can place a new order and request us to cancel the old order and then send the tapes.

33. I don’t need regular TV DVD. Can we only order data DVD?

Our data DVD service is only available as an add-on option with the regular TV DVDs.

34. Can we bring the tapes to you in person?

We only accept tapes by mail as we are not set up to accept orders in person. We are an online company and do not have a store front.

35. Do you have a rush service?

We offer rush service for Deluxe and Premier DVD package orders for additional cost. The turnaround time for rush orders is 3 days (for large size orders this may be a bit longer).

36. Do you convert copyright content?

We can convert copyright content if you send us a signed note saying that the DVDs are only for personal use and not for selling to others

37. Do you accept mature content?

As per our company policy we do not accept mature/adult content of any kind.

38. Can you repair tapes before converting them?

We only accept tapes that can be played without any problems. We are not set up for repair work. We are not responsible for any defective tapes sent to us.

39. Can I edit the data DVDs on my Mac computer?

No. Our data DVDs work only on Windows computers.
